The Truth Is Malibu

We have all heard the cliche: things get worse before they get better. I used to laugh at such cliches until I experienced true loss and could not find my way back. Then on a dusty road in Tampa, I met a man who helped me. It was a Wednesday. Walking down the road, my attention was captured by a gust of wind ripping through me out of nowhere. Glancing behind me the wind stopped. I pivoted around and saw a man walking toward me waving. How could I have not seen him earlier? He spoke. To me. He knew me? No, it turned out he was clearing his throat, but clearing his throat to talk to me.

His name was Malibu. It felt like I knew him.

Malibu: I knew I would find you here.

Me: Well, uh, ok.

Malibu: Where is your fire? Where is your drive? Where is the man that will change everything?

Me: Sir, I think you have me confuse–

Malibu: I see in your heart a great fire. In your eyes, I see warmth and kindness. I also see a demon blocking you from discovering yourself.

As you might guess, I was thoroughly confused. We ended up walking and talking for a bit. He seemed harmless so I met him for a beer the next day and offered to be my spiritual guide. With nothing to lose, I accepted. All the secrets of life can be found on the golf course, but only if you play at night without clubs.

So I have invited Malibu to teach a master course in life here. He was instrumental in my discovery of my style. I believe you should take this journey. What have you got to lose?
